Based on Rwanda vision 2020, the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (IRST) is the leading Institution of the knowledge-based and technology-led economy of Rwanda. It was established within the framework of research restructuring in Rwanda by the law no 06/1989 on March 15, 1989 made public in official Gazette of may 1, 1989. Its innovative technologies help Rwandan population to solve their socio-economical problems.

Our vision is to be a world class Institution in Research and generating suitable technologies in energy, environment, health, society and economy fields.
